Millions of hardworking Americans and their families have benefited from the collective bargaining power of union membership and representation. If you are interested in having a union in your workplace, you and your coworkers may want to become part of the Oregon School Employees Association, AFT Local 6732. As “A Member’s Union,” OSEA works every day to protect the rights of our members and improve working conditions.
Representing 20,000 education employees, OSEA is one of the largest unions in Oregon and part of the 1.4 million-member American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO. Are you and your coworkers interested in building your own union with OSEA? Do you have questions about union organizing rights, how to achieve union recognition or how to bargain a good contract? Do you want to know how being part of a member-driven union can help improve your workplace and give you a voice on the job? Is your independent labor organization seeking to affiliate with a larger union that has more resources to support its membership? Over the years, OSEA has grown because groups of employees started asking these and many other questions. They found answers and solutions when they began building their union in OSEA.
Having a good union contract and representation is important for all education employees. OSEA leadership and staff seek to provide the very best advocacy, representation and service to those we represent. OSEA’s membership includes K-12 classified; HeadStart teachers and staff; ESD employees; privatized custodial, food service and transportation workers (such as First Student bus drivers); library staff; parks and rec staff; and community college classified. Along with other unions in the labor movement, OSEA proudly stands for fully funding education, early childhood programs, and higher education for the benefit of all Oregonians. By becoming part of the OSEA family, you can make a difference for yourself and your community.
