Apply today to attend OSEA's Member Organizing Summer Institute!

OSEA’s organizing department will be conducting the sixth annual Member Organizing Summer Institute (MOSI). Last year, 12 OSEA chapters sent 16 representatives to attend MOSI training. MOSI participants from last year have helped their chapters gain successful contracts, increase chapter membership and member involvement in chapter activities and improve communications. Also, they have helped organize new groups into the OSEA family!

Training dates
Training will consist of a three-day basic program beginning Friday morning and concluding Sunday afternoon. This year’s summer institute will be held July 23-25, 2010.

Focus
The focus of this training will be developing the skills needed to assist in chapter campaigns ranging from contracts to membership to chapter building. Our goal is to train members to support chapter executive boards and to serve as an organizing resource. Will your chapter be engaging in any activities such as contract negotiations, membership drives, chapter building, fair share campaigns or other activities where a member trained in organizing can be of help? If yes, you are encouraged to apply!

Application Process
This year, MOSI will be open to the first 20 members who apply by the deadline and meet the selection criteria. Please complete the MOSI Application and return it to the OSEA State Office by 4:00 p.m. on July 1, 2010.

The organizing department will review all applications and make initial selections for the summer institute. After this selection process, an OSEA organizer will contact the chapter president, the selected trainee and the OSEA field representativee to discuss chapter plans for the MOSI trainee.

Additional Information
Participants will be provided lodging, meals and time release if necessary. Each graduate will receive training certification. If you have any questions, please contact the OSEA State Office at 800/252-6732.
