SEARCH OSEA

OSEA's Education & Training program has been assisting OSEA members and educational profressionals in achieving additional training, accomplishing personal goals, and becoming better Union activists for many years.

Throughout time the programs offered by OSEA have evolved and grown to match the constant changing job market and demands of the educational community. However, OSEA's commitment to providing the best in educational programs has never wavered, but has only increased.

During the 2007-08 school year, OSEA is proud to be offering the following programs to OSEA members:

Leadership Training
Presidents' Council
A training program designed and implemented by OSEA leaders, Presidents' Council provides a open forum and ideal training ground for Chapter Presidents

Union Skills Training
Designed for Chapter leaders, Union Skills Training provides the tools and knowledge necessary to meet the challenges that face every elected officer.

Professional Staff Development Training
Professional Skills Development
Started in 2004, the development program provides OSEA members and school districts with several courses designed to assist employees in developing their skills. Courses include, but are not limited to, first aid, lead person skills, work ethics, communication, and more.

WorkKeys Program
OSEA's WorkKeys Program, which includes KeyTrain Tutoring, WorkKeys Assessment, and Pedagogy Assessment is designed to assist educational assistants in fulfilling the No Child Left Behind Act requirements.

Representation and Organizing Training
Steward Training
Stewards are the eyes, ears, and sometimes arms and legs of OSEA in the workplace. By assisting other members and representing OSEA in the workplace, they have the satisfaction of knowing they make a big difference in the lives of their fellow coworkers.

BER Training
OSEA's new Building Employee Representative program establishes a new role for chapter BER's. They will provide an important service as an information referral resource to members at their worksites. Call to schedule a BER training in your chapter.

Member Organizing Summer Institute (MOSI)
Annual MOSI training will consist of a three-day intensive program on basic organizing skills for Chapter building and the basics of campaign planning. The training will provide the member with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist their Chapter in any range of organizing activities.
