The Organizing Department specializes in both internal and external organizing as well as member training. Internal organizing includes contract campaigns, Chapter building, anti-privatization strategies, fair share campaigns, and membership drives. External organizing involves organizing new units, community organizing, and political organizing.
Organizing Training
The Organizing Department provides a variety of trainings for Chapters. Campaign training will prepare your Chapter to develop and implement campaigns focused on your Chapter’s issues. Training to establish and implement Chapter Action Teams is available to Chapters as well as other Chapter trainings specific to organizing needs.
The department’s annual Member Organizing Summer Institute (MOSI) serves as OSEA’s primary training event for developing Chapter level organizer/activists. This three-day training accepts representatives from those Chapters that have specific campaigns they plan to implement.

Internal Organizing
Internal organizing is critical to maintaining a Chapter that can successfully represent the interests of its membership. Will your Chapter be involved in contract negotiations or facing other issues such as contracting out threats, fair share campaigns, membership drives, developing your building representative program, or starting a newsletter or web page?
Or does your Chapter just want to make improvements in your organizational structure and the way you deliver services to your members? Whatever your internal organizing needs are the OSEA Organizing Department can provide your Chapter with all of the resources required to organize and implement an effective campaign.

External Organizing
OSEA is approached often by groups of education employees who are either dissatisfied with their current Union representation or workers who have no Union representation.
Having good Union representation is important for all education employees. OSEA is the state leader in providing the very best representation and service classified school employees. Today OSEA represents over 21, 000 school employees. OSEA is “A Member’s Union” that works every day to protect the rights of our members and improve their working conditions and benefits from the local level with school boards to the state legislature and our nations congress.
